A letter from ADFP President, Lili Vasileff

Dear Colleagues,
It has been among my greatest privileges and pleasures to serve as President of the Association of Divorce Financial Planners. I have enjoyed the wealth of personal and professional development, and moreover, cherish the friendship and camaraderie I share with you.

However, after returning to lead the ADFP at a critical juncture 5 years ago, I am confident that we are once again, a strong, vibrant and profitable membership organization with robust financial resources. As I announced earlier this year, I am retiring as President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Divorce Financial Planners to be effective at the end of this year.

I remain eternally grateful for the high honor of serving our membership as the longest standing President of the ADFP, and for the tremendous opportunities we successfully accessed to advance our profession. I take great personal satisfaction and pride in the record that has been established, and for this reason consider it an opportune time to move forward.

The objective of securing professional recognition and respect among our peers and the public has been achieved. The leadership role we have undertaken in finalizing standards and protocols is a critically important hallmark that will forever guide dedicated practitioners.  And, for the past two decades, the consistency and quality of the educational content and networking programs produced annually by the ADFP has become a valuable resource for both new and experienced members.

As a result, each and every one of us makes a positive and holistic impact on how families and couples experience divorce. I continue to feel the same excitement, passion, and desire to achieve more, just as I did when I first started 28 years ago. However, I believe that the Association of Divorce Financial Planners would be well served by new leadership and fresh inspiration at this juncture. Similarly, I look forward to directing my energies and talents toward new challenging endeavors.

We are fortunate to have Kadre Management working with the ADFP to do most of the heavy lifting of the day to day tasks. Kadre has proven to be an excellent resource and I have greatly appreciated the ease with which I have coordinated my work with Emily and Karla.

To make this transition as smooth as possible, I will do everything I can to assist the BOD and to support and guide the new President(s). I will resume serving on the BOD as President Emeritus.

I truly believe that we have created a substantial legacy for the future, and our organization is strong because of your volunteerism and involvement. This organization has evolved from a handful of individuals to a national organization that is recognized by every major allied professional organization, media, and the public.

To cite Robert Louis Stevenson, “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant." I urge all of you to continue planting many seeds for the future, so that the ADFP continues to grow even more influential and responsible as the dominant oversight body for divorce financial planners.

With mixed feelings, I thank you for these years of service as President and look forward to remaining an active member.

With gratitude,
Lili Vasileff, CFP®, MAFF™, CDFA™
President, Association of Divorce Financial Planners
